Would You Buy A Hot Dog From This Man?

5 pm Friday and we are off to the Legion. The branch decided to serve Hot Dogs & Fries on Friday nights to raise a bit of extra money. Tonight is our turn to cook. That's right. Fred is going to cook! With hot oil!!! Would you buy a hot dog from this man?

And he has had such a rough day. He had to be encouraged to leave the house first thing this morning as it was still minus 12. But then Fred is used to being 'encouraged' by me. Ha Ha.

The first few runs down the hill were pretty chilly. We ski slowly enough that there is no wind chill, but still, after an hour, it was time to go in and warm up. Snow conditions were excellent though and surprising, as when it is really cold, the usual condition is icy. Now, as I write this the temperature has warmed up but snow is falling again.

No company this weekend. I can't remember a weekend without visitors for quite some time. But this is just the quiet before the crowd. March Break is only a week away. The house will be full then. Charles is coming with the kids, so time for '3 generation skiing'.

Another brilliantly sunny day. But again very chilly. Minus 15. Minimal wind chill today though.
Fred had to go to Collingwood and took the scenic route past the ski hills. He said the parking lot was quite full but he could only see one skier on the slopes. Everyone else was probably inside, thawing out with hot chocolate! Too cold for us again. Tomorrow is supposed to be minus one!!! I can't imagine how it will change so quickly, but if it does we will be back on the slopes.

In the meantime, after dusting and vacuuming I spent some time in the hot tub.
(still my Mother's child. Get the work done first) And am now getting ready to go to Knit Group in Meaford. Today I am taking them a hat pattern designed by yours truly. I was knitting a hat last week and one of the ladies asked for the pattern. Since it was self-designed and as I say 'pattern-free' I offered to write up the pattern and give it to them this week.

Just last week I purchased a new printer - one of those "5 in 1 " deals. So I can scan, fax etc. And print in colour. This allowed me to make a special deal of the pattern and print it up in booklet form with colour photos. Looks pretty good if I do say so myself. Of course the proof is in the knitting, so I'll see if it works for them.

Once home from knitting, the sun still shining, I couldn't resist a walk in the cold, brisk air. Am I the only person who enjoys the cold? Brisk chilly air, frosty cheeks, sun shine and the pinched-nostril cold? I love it.

Well, I'm off to watch Survivor. And knit. What's on the needles you ask? A vest. Called the Leftovers Vest. I saw one on the internet - done in stripes with yarn leftover from other projects. And as I always say, "I am not creative. I just copy well." Maybe by the time it is done, I will have mastered putting pics on the blog .

A Cold Cold Wednesday

Minus 16 with a wind chill of minus 26 was too cold for Fred to ski today. I say I would have gone if he would have gone. But I was able to keep toasty warm and not have to prove myself, because Fred was definitely not going.
I spent my day signing up for internet banking. I know, I am probably the last person on earth to not have done this sooner, but I am there now. Now I am just waiting for some bills to come in so I can try it out. Not often that one anxiously waits for bills.
By lunch time my eyes were bleary from so much computer time so I was glad to take a break and head downtown to the coffee shop to get my weekly allotment of organic vegetables. The local organic farmer brings organic veggies - both local and from far away - to the coffee shop every Wednesday. He sends out an email on Monday and if you want veggies, you reply by email.
Then I came home and made cabbage rolls. Not something I really enjoy as they seem to be an all day job. But I do love to eat them. This time made with mostly organic ingredients - cabbage, red pepper, garlic, sauerkraut, and ground beef. Pretty tasty.
And now time to turn on the TV and start a new knitting project.

First post

Hi all,
I decided to create a blog - finally! I have been talking about it for a long time. It won't
necessarily be about knitting - although since knitting is a big part of my life, there will probably be much about knitting.
But since moving to Thornbury, I find I am always behind on my emails. Keeping in touch with friends. And since I seem to say mostly the same thing to everyone, I decided the easiest way to keep in touch would be to have a blog.
Hope you enjoy reading it.
